Storage Time
When stored correctly, braised cabbage will maintain its quality for 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator. For extended preservation, it can be safely frozen for up to 3 months, though for optimal taste and texture, consume within 1-2 months.
Temperature
Always keep cooked braised cabbage refrigerated at a consistent temperature of 0–4°C (32–40°F) to significantly slow bacterial growth and maintain food safety.
Freezing
To freeze braised cabbage, first allow it to cool completely to room temperature within two hours of cooking. Portion the cooled cabbage into airtight, freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags, pressing out as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Label each container with the date. When you're ready to enjoy, thaw the frozen braised cabbage overnight in the refrigerator. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave until it is steaming hot throughout, ensuring it reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F). While the flavor holds up well, the texture may become slightly softer after freezing and thawing.
