Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 6 months when frozen
Temperature
Store refrigerated cooked brown rice at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Cooked brown rice freezes exceptionally well, preserving its quality for future use. Allow the rice to cool completely before portioning it into airtight containers or freezer bags. For best results, spread it in a single layer on a baking sheet to freeze individually before transferring to a bag to prevent clumping. To thaw, refrigerate overnight or gently reheat from frozen in a microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or fermented smell.
- A slimy or mushy texture.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy white, green, or black spots.
