Freezing
To freeze fresh ginger root, you can either freeze it whole or grate it first. For whole ginger, place it in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. Grated ginger can be portioned into ice cube trays with a little water or oil, then frozen and transferred to a freezer bag. Frozen ginger is best used within 6 months for optimal flavor. Thaw frozen ginger at room temperature or directly add it to your cooking.
