Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer for optimal quality.
Temperature
Store in the refrigerator at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
To freeze grilled venison chops, allow them to cool completely. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil or place them in a freezer-safe airtight container to prevent freezer burn. Thaw frozen venison chops overnight in the refrigerator for the safest and best quality. For quicker thawing, you can submerge the sealed package in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes. Avoid thawing at room temperature. Reheating is best done gently in the oven or on the stovetop to preserve moisture.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or ammonia-like odor emanating from the meat.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface of the chops.
- Discoloration, such as a grayish or greenish hue, instead of the expected cooked brown.
