Savor the rich flavors of your homemade curry for longer by following these expert storage guidelines. Properly stored, this aromatic dish can be enjoyed for several days, retaining its delicious taste and texture.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store refrigerated curry at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Homemade curry freezes exceptionally well, making it perfect for meal prepping. Allow the curry to cool completely before transferring it to airtight freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. For best quality, consume within 2–3 months. To thaw, transfer the frozen curry to the refrigerator overnight or gently reheat it on the stovetop or in the microwave. Some separation of liquids may occur upon thawing, but this is normal and can be stirred back in.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or off-putting smell, distinct from the usual aromatic spices.
- Visible mold growth on the surface of the curry.
- A slimy or sticky texture, indicating bacterial proliferation.
