Jasmine rice, a fragrant long-grain variety, is a staple in many cuisines. Properly stored, this aromatic rice maintains its delicate texture and flavor, ensuring delicious meals.
Storage Time
Up to 2 years in a cool, dry pantry; cooked rice lasts 3-4 days in the refrigerator; frozen cooked rice can last up to 6 months.
Temperature
Store uncooked rice in a cool, dry place, ideally between 15-20°C (59-68°F). Cooked rice should be refrigerated at 0-4°C (32-40°F).
Freezing
Cooked jasmine rice freezes exceptionally well. Allow cooked rice to cool completely before portioning it into airtight containers or freezer bags. To thaw, refrigerate overnight or gently reheat in a microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water to restore moisture and texture.
Signs of Spoilage
- Unpleasant, musty, or rancid odor.
- Visible mold growth, often appearing as fuzzy spots.
- Changes in texture, such as becoming clumpy or sticky when it should be separate.
