Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer
Temperature
Store refrigerated at or below 4°C (40°F)
Freezing
Roasted yams freeze exceptionally well, preserving their flavor and texture for future use. Allow the roasted yams to cool completely before portioning them into airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. To thaw, transfer them to the refrigerator overnight or gently reheat them from frozen in the oven or microwave. Freezing may slightly alter the texture, making them a bit softer upon reheating, but they remain excellent for casseroles, side dishes, or purees.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or fermented smell.
- Slimy or mushy texture.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy white, green, or black spots.
