Enjoy the rich, tender flavors of perfectly braised rabbit, a culinary delight that can be safely stored to savor later. Proper storage ensures this slow-cooked delicacy maintains its delicious taste and texture.
Storage Time
3–4 days in the refrigerator, up to 2–3 months in the freezer.
Temperature
Store refrigerated at or below 4°C (40°F).
Freezing
Braised rabbit freezes exceptionally well. Allow the dish to cool completely before portioning it into airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. For best quality, consume within 2-3 months. To thaw, transfer to the refrigerator overnight or gently reheat from frozen using a low heat on the stovetop or in the oven. Avoid refreezing once thawed.
Signs of Spoilage
- A sour or off-putting smell that is distinctly different from its usual savory aroma.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the surface of the rabbit meat or sauce.
- Visible mold growth, which can appear as fuzzy patches of various colors (white, green, black).
