Konjac noodles, also known as shirataki noodles, are a low-calorie, gluten-free noodle made from the konjac plant. These versatile noodles are a fantastic pantry staple for healthy eating, offering a satisfying texture with minimal carbohydrates and calories.
Storage Time
Unopened packages can last for 1-2 years in the pantry. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 3-5 days.
Temperature
Store unopened packages in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate opened packages at 0-4°C (32-40°F).
Freezing
While konjac noodles can be frozen, their texture may change slightly upon thawing, becoming a bit softer. To freeze, drain them thoroughly, pat dry, and place in an airtight freezer-safe container or bag. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or rinse under warm water before use. Freezing is best for long-term storage if you have excess.
Signs of Spoilage
- Foul or sour odor emanating from the noodles.
- Slimy or mushy texture, indicating bacterial growth.
- Visible mold growth on the surface of the noodles or in the packaging liquid.
