Indulge in the delightful flakiness of a homemade cherry turnover, a classic pastry filled with sweet, tart cherries. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a satisfying snack, these turnovers are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored to maintain their deliciousness.
Storage Time
Store leftover cherry turnovers at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 4 days for optimal freshness. For longer preservation, they can be frozen for up to 2-3 months.
Temperature
Store at room temperature (18-22°C) if consuming within 2 days, or refrigerate at 0-4°C for longer shelf life.
Freezing
To freeze cherry turnovers, allow them to cool completely. Wrap each turnover individually in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. To thaw, remove from the freezer and let them come to room temperature for a few hours. For a crisper crust, reheat gently in a preheated oven at 150°C (300°F) for 5-10 minutes.
Signs of Spoilage
- Mold growth on the pastry or filling.
- A sour or fermented smell emanating from the cherries.
- A slimy or sticky texture on the pastry surface or filling.
